About The Author

Jay Winner, MD has been a family physician at Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara, California since 1991. In 1992 he started the clinic’s stress reduction program. Dr. Winner has spoken on the topic of stress management to corporations, counselors, firefighters, and government employees. He has written articles for both medical and counseling journals, and has been quoted often as a stress expert in a wide variety of national print and electronic media. He has served as the Chairman of the Department of Family Practice for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine for the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Dr. Winner speaks frequently around the country to physicians and other healthcare workers on the topics of practitioner well-being, burnout prevention and treatment, stress reduction and the treatment of anxiety disorders. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the author of the book Relaxation on the Run: Simple Methods to Reduce Stress in Seconds.
